Vulcan Tech Gospel

The Vulcan Tech Gospel is a system designed to teach both the beginner and advanced spinner.   The first goal of VTG  is to help the user to understand the variety of flower patterns available in a given arm and prop timing and direction.   The second is to teach the user how to transition between patterns within a given timing and direction.

The Triad of VTG

  • Timing and Direction
    • Timing and direction refers to the relative timing, tog and split and the relative direction, same and opp,  of props or hands in a pattern. The timing is always listed first and the direction second
      • There are four timing and directions
        1. T/S – Tog/Same- Together Time Same Direction
        2. S/S- Split/ Same – Split TIme Same Direction
        3. T/O – Tog/ Opp- Together TIme Same Direction
        4. S/O – Split/ Opp- Split Time Opposite Direction
  • Snapshots
    • A snapshot is the image of a given pattern across the x or y axis.  This includes that of both the arms on the larger circle and the props from the circle formed at the hand.
  • Pattern
    • Pattern refers to the image that the props of a given pattern create stretched out over 360 degrees.  The pattern indicates how many prop rotations per arm rotations you are attempting.
      1. The Patterns for the VTG are in
        • 1:1
        • 1:3
        • 1:5

    Hi,
Just a comment that there’s a typo for the timing and direction #3 Tog/Opp. It says Together Time
    Same Direction
    Instead of
    Together Time
    Opposite Direction
Thanks for this awesome guide tho!

Hey Noel, thank you so much for what you do! Thanks to your development of VTG I’ve been able to excel at learning 8 Rings after a few years of learning Poi, Doublestaff and Buugeng. I started a 100 move series using VTG to demonstrate what is possible with this incredible prop. I would love to hear your feedback and if possible become a collaborator to help grow the 8 rings community!
